Download Local Inventory for RMH

Local Inventory from Google (formerly Pointy) is available as a free download direct to your point-of-sale system for applicable POS integrations.

Download Local Inventory from Google and scan your products as normal to add them to your product catalog and to your Google Business Profile. They will also have a better opportunity to show up in product-related searches on Google.

An optional premium feature is ProductAds, where you can create ads for all your products in two clicks.

Note: In order for Local Inventory from Google to work for your store, you must be using UPC/EAN barcodes on your products.

How to install Local Inventory from Google for RMH

To install Local Inventory from Google onto your RMH POS:

  1. Please fill out this form to download the Local Inventory from Google Installer.
  2. Locate and open the installation program. 
  1. Double-click the icon to begin the installation. 
  2. Click Next to continue. 

5. Enter your SQL server credentials. Then click install

6. The installation is complete. Click Next to continue.

7. Click Finish to complete the installation process.

New to Local Inventory from Google – How to create your Local Inventory account

  1. Locate the Local Inventory (PointyNWT) shortcut on the Desktop. Right-click on the icon and select Run as Administrator. 
  1. Account Setup tab –  Create your Local Inventory from Google account by filling out the information on the bottom half of the window. 
  1. After entering the required information click Create Account 
  2. Store Configuration tab
    1. Set your sales and inventory sync schedule
    2. Set Sync Options
  3. Run Initial Sync: This button will start the first sync process and upload items to your Local Inventory from Google page. 
  4. Save and Start Service: This button allows you to save changes made in this configuration window.

Current Local Inventory from Google Users: 

  1. If you are already using Local Inventory from Google and wish to use the RMH integration please reach out to Local Inventory from Google support at [email protected].
  2. The email should include your store name and address and a brief explanation of your query eg. “I would like to connect my current Local Inventory from Google account to the RMH Local Inventory from Google integration.”
  3. The Local Inventory from Google agent will associate your current Local Inventory from Google page to the correct integration.
  4. The Local Inventory from Google support agent will then give you your retailer key.
  5. When you have successfully installed Local Inventory from Google please go to the Account Setup tab, enter your unique retailers key and click “Save Retailer Auth Key”
  6. Store Configuration tab
    1. Set your sales and inventory sync schedule
    2. Set Sync Options
  7. Run Initial Sync: This button will start the first sync process and upload items to your Local Inventory from Google page. 
  8. Save and Start Service: This button allows you to save changes made in this configuration window.

FAQ’s

I use RMS, can I still sign up to Local Inventory from Google?

Yes, although we are not integrated with RMS you can purchase a Local Inventory from Google Box to begin using Local Inventory from Google. Please go to pointy.com/rms to sign up.

How do I know what my SQL credentials are?

These are the same credentials you would use to connect to your RMH database. The SQL server address Example: 192.168.0.100 Example: (local) Example: 192.168.0.11/R2

  • Port Override
    • Check this if your SQL Server is setup to use a different port  then the default port 
  • Port Number
    • If Port Override is checked, enter the port number here 
  • Username
    • The username used to log into the SQL Server 
  • Password
    • The password for the username used to log into the SQL Server 
  • Database
    • The name of the RMH database 
  • Test Button
    • Push the Test button to confirm the database connection settings are correct

What are the different sync options?

  • Disable Validation 
  • Adjust the Holdback Quantity 
  • Select the Record Batch size 
  • Choose to sync by Item Lookup Code, Alias or Custom. 

If you have Lookup Code selected then Local Inventory from Google will sync your items based on their Item Lookup Code.  

If you have Alias selected then Local Inventory from Google will sync your items based on their Alias codes. 

However, if you have Custom selected then you will see the Department Selection window. Here you can choose which RMH  departments to sync from, based on Lookup Code, Alias, or a combination of both. In the example to the right, there are departments selected from the Lookup Code and Alias columns.  Click OK to return to the Store Configuration tab.

 I am already using a Local Inventory from Google device. How do I switch over to using Local Inventory from Google on my POS?

  1. If you are already using Local Inventory from Google and wish to use the integration, please contact Local Inventory from Google support at [email protected].
  2. The email should include your store name and address and a brief explanation of your query eg. I would like to connect my current account to the XXXX integration.
  3. The Local Inventory from Google agent will associate your current Local Inventory from Google page with the correct integration.
  4. The support agent will then give you your retailer key.
  5. You will then need to input the retailer key according to the instructions above.

How often should I submit inventory/sales data for my store?

We would advise that inventory data be sent daily and that sales data be sent hourly.

When should I run the initial sync?

Due to the high level of network traffic, if you attempt to run the initial sync between the hours of 4 AM and 6 PM the sync will automatically be postponed until 10 PM. 

What information/data does Local Inventory from Google receive when I connect it to my POS?

Once you have connected to Local Inventory from Google, we find an image and description to match each of your products from our comprehensive database. This then goes on your Local Inventory from Google Page. To get the most out of Local Inventory from Google, we need access to your POS inventory, stock levels, and sales history (to estimate stock levels on your page). Your store’s data is important to us and we ensure that it is protected at all times.

How do I access my Local Inventory from my Google account?

After you sign up to Local Inventory from Google you will receive an email from Google to create a login for your Local Inventory from Google Page. Once you have created your login details, you can access your page by going to https://www.pointy.com/login.
